The Daughters
of Destiny Conference 2011
October 9-15, 2011
NOTE: The 2011 Conference is now filled. Further registrations will be placed on a waiting list.
The Purpose of the Camp
We are so excited that you have expressed an interest in being a part of the Daughters of Destiny Conference 2011. We desire to honor the Lord in all that is done during the week and want to insure that the young ladies who truly have a desire to be there are given the best possible teaching atmosphere. To reach this goal, it is necessary for the leadership of the conference to be accountable to the Lord and to the parents, who send their precious daughters to the conference. Parents must also be in one accord with our mission and with the regulations set for the young ladies while they are attending the conference.
If a young lady would like to be a part of the week, she must complete an application/questionnaire in addition to the standard registration form. This application must be completed by the registrant, not the parent. Also, the young lady must list one personal reference (not a family member) which we could contact, if necessary. After the application has been reviewed by the leadership of the conference, the applicant will be notified. The size of the camp will be limited in order to improve the quality of teaching and to provide an atmosphere in which lasting relationships can be developed amongst the young ladies attending the conference.
We believe these guidelines will honor the Lord, and allow the young ladies who have a true heart for Biblical womanhood and girlhood to be able to attend the conference in a nurturing atmosphere, and be true to the guiding purpose of the Daughters of Destiny Conference which is as follows:
"This camp is designed to strengthen, equip, and encourage young ladies ages 12-18 up the great path of Beautiful Girlhood. It is our prayer that we can help to inspire them to be a blessing to others inside and outside their home. We want to strengthen their resolve towards Godliness, walking as light in a dark world, through daily studies in the Bible. We want to equip them to gain new skills or sharpen those they may already possess in order to bless others and to become ministry minded. We also want to encourage their hearts by giving them the chance to have fellowship and fun with other young ladies that also have a vision and a passion for Biblical womanhood."
We invite any questions you may have about the application process. Please feel free to email Mrs. Erika Blessman at: teblessman@va.net.

CREATIVE ARTS
CARD MAKING: Everyone loves to receive a homemade card! In this class you will learn special techniques and ideas to create spectacular cards. By using cardstock, scrapbook paper, rubber stamps, three dimensional stickers, and more, you can design and make unique cards for every purpose.
PATHWAYS TO THE PAST: Is family history important to you? Would you like to learn creative ways to record your family history or ways to preserve it? We will be doing projects that not only use your family's history, but also your personal history.
CAKE DECORATING: Have you ever wanted to learn how to make those beautiful cakes for either a birthday or a wedding? Take this class and learn the ins and outs to decorating cakes for special events. This is a great opportunity to develop a skill for ministry or for your own business at home.
QUILTING - Do you love fabric and/or have bags of little scraps of fabric just begging to be sewn into a quilt? Join us to learn the art of quilting! We will take you from the start to the finish for a quilted pot holder. If you are already a quilter, we will have an advanced pattern for you!
KNITTING/CROCHET - Everyone should know how to knit or crochet! If you haven't learned how to yet, this is the class for you! Once you know how, the projects you can complete are endless! We will have beginner AND an advanced class this year.
CLOTHING EMBELLISHMENT - Would you like to learn ways in which to embellish your clothing into something stunning and one of a kind? Learn the art of dyeing, bead work, embroidery and more; all wrapped up in one class!
SWEDISH WEAVING - Traditional Swedish Weaving, also known as Huck Embroidery, first became popular in the United States in the 30’s and 40’s and is now experiencing a resurgence in popularity. Swedish Weave is done by picking up the vertical threads, called floats, on the front of the fabric so the stitching does not show on the back. Once you learn the basic stitches, the possibilities are endless.
CROSS STITCH - This is a popular form of counted-thread embroidery in which x-shaped stitches are used to form a picture. Cross stitch is usually executed on easily countable evenweave fabric called aida cloth. The stitcher counts the threads in each direction so that the stitches are of uniform size and appearance. This form of cross stitch is also called counted cross stitch. Sometimes cross stitch is done on designs printed on the fabric called stamped cross stitch. We will be learning counted cross stitch.
MINISTRY/SERVICE
ENCOURAGEMENT MINISTRY/MISSIONS - We need to encourage each other in our daily life! This class will explore ways in which we can encourage others in our home, church, or around the world.
SIGN LANGUAGE - This is a language that uses a system of manual, facial, and other body movements as the means of communication, especially among deaf people. I have used sign language with several of my children as babies. This is wonderful tool to prevent frustration on behalf of the child. It is also a blessing to obtain this knowledge for use in the Lord's work.
CHOIR/HARMONIZING - What a wonderful opportunity to share the talents the Lord has given you! Join this group and learn how to harmonize and sing parts (soprano, alto, etc.) in a choir like setting. Be prepared to use your talents at the banquet on Friday night!
BUILDING A HERITAGE LIBRARY - With over 10,000 books in our family library, this class is near and dear to my heart! Come learn what books to search for, what books to keep, and how to organize your heritage library at home. Perhaps we can start some book discussions, too!
MONEY MANAGEMENT AND BOOKKEEPING - In this day and age of tight finances, this is a class you should not miss. You will be a blessing to your family if you can learn to manage your money and keep good books. This class will go beyond the basics of mathematics, but will also touch on ways to save money via coupons and more.
PLEASE NOTE: Please list your first choice and second choice for each activity—Creative Arts, Fiber Arts, and Ministry/Service. Sign up for these classes will be on a first come, first served basis, so please do not forget to include this on your registration form. If both of your choices are filled, you will be contacted to select a third choice.
